PORTLAND, OR – Marketing coordinator Jessica Chen announced Monday that she is officially “done with social media forever” after her weekend brunch story received only 47 views instead of her usual 50, marking what she called “a devastating blow to her personal brand.”

Chen, who has maintained a consistent posting schedule of 4.7 stories per day for the past three years, noticed the decline Sunday evening while conducting her routine engagement audit. The missing views, which she traced to her college roommate, a distant cousin, and someone she met at a house party in 2019, prompted an immediate crisis of faith in the platform.

“When I saw that little ’47’ instead of the usual ’50,’ I knew something had fundamentally shifted in the digital landscape,” Chen explained while simultaneously posting a mirror selfie with the caption ‘authentic moment.’ “This clearly signals the death of organic reach and the end of meaningful human connection as we know it.”

According to social media analytics expert Dr. Marcus Thompson, Chen’s experience reflects a growing trend of users interpreting minor fluctuations in engagement as apocalyptic signs. “We’re seeing people declare platforms ‘dead’ based on sample sizes that would make a statistician weep,” Thompson noted, adding that Chen has since posted 12 stories about her social media detox in the past 24 hours.

At press time, Chen was reportedly considering a complete digital cleanse, right after she finishes editing the 47 photos she took of her avocado toast this morning.
